Further Cooperation between USST and Shanghai Electric

On March 18th, Zhang Yulong, secretary of Party Committee and president of Shanghai Electric paid a visit to USST. Both sides carried out in-depth talks in scientific cooperation, industry-education integration, collaborative innovation and talents cultivation.
On behalf of the school, Wang Lingyu, secretary of Party Committee of USST, delivered addressed welcome speech and briefly introduced the school's historical context and recent reform and development. He pointed out that USST is an applied research-oriented university under direct supervision and jurisdiction of Shanghai municipal government, which is deeply rooted in the industry and serves the economic and social development needs of the country and Shanghai. It has formed significant advantages in fields such as optical engineering, intelligent manufacturing, and medical devices. He pointed out that the development of universities must be rooted in industrial demand, otherwise talent cultivation work will have no vitality. USST and Shanghai Electric have launched a deep strategic cooperation, hoping to further strengthen cooperation with Shanghai Electric in various aspects such as students joint training, faculty team co-education, discipline construction, award application, scientific research cooperation, talent recruitment, and smart city construction, and promote "fruitful cooperation" through "small incisions", contributing to the cultivation of new-quality productivity and empowering industrial revitalization. He requested that relevant departments of the school should take the initiative to coordinate and ensure the implementation of cooperation in all aspects, in order to improve the quality and efficiency of cooperation.
Zhang Zhong, vice president of USST pointed out that both sides need to strengthen cooperation in the reform of talents training, the cultivation of dual qualified teaching staff, the revision of training plans, and curriculum construction, in order to achieve the supply of high-quality and adaptable talents from "school " to the "factory", further meet the needs of enterprises and the capabilities of universities, and form more high-quality achievements.
Zhang Yulong systematically elaborated on the strategic layout and technological advantages of the group. He stated that as a leading enterprise in the field of industrial automation in China, Shanghai Electric has long been deeply involved in intelligent control, industrial robots, smart city infrastructure and other fields. It has led and participated in major projects such as the Shanghai Metro Intelligent Operation and Maintenance System and the Yangtze River Delta Smart Energy Network, and takes a lead in the field of automation system integration and digital solutions. Zhang Yulong pointed out that the group urgently needs to establish a long-term cooperation mechanism with universities in talents joint training, scientific research joint tackling, and other aspects. He hopes to deepen cooperation with USST in talents attraction, technological research, and platform construction.
Before the talk, the delegation led by Zhang Yulong made the on-the-spot investigation of USST Machinery Intelligence Research Institute and Shanghai High-end Medical Device Innovation Center.
