German Cultural Exchange Centre (GCC)

    德国文化交流中心（以下简称德国中心）, 位于沪江国际文化园201/202号楼。1916-1917年建造落成。2009年12月揭牌, 2011年10月底随着沪江国际文化园的正式启动开始试运营, 2012年2月起正式运营。

德国中心在设计规划时突出德国文化的特性，注重以人为本，功能区域包括一楼接待厅、活动厅；二楼展示厅、报告厅、会议室；三楼办公区以及位于副楼的手工体验中心即工具房。

德国中心隶属国际交流处。中心有一位中方主任，一位德方主任，两位中国实习生，一位德语国家实习生以及一支志愿者团队。此外还有校外的顾问委员会代表团，代表团的成员为重要的德奥驻上海办事处的代表者，例如,DAAD, 德国领馆文教处，奥地利领馆文教处，德商会，张江德国中心以及一些重要的企业机构。

德国中心自2012年2月正式运营以来，开展了多种形式的各类文化活动，取得了良好的效果。除了开设以德语国家文化为主题的选修课程，举行图片展、摄影展以外，还举办了多场讲座、报告会、研讨会、朗读会、朗诵会以及音乐会，不仅邀请了德国著名的学者、专家和作家做主题报告以及著名音乐家来演出，而且注重双向交流，每次活动都有中德较高层次的对话交流。中心除了组织面向我校师生的活动，还组织了多场面向德语国家交换生及外国留学生的活动，介绍传播中国文化。德国中心目前的品牌活动有沪江外交官论坛系列活动、德奥之声系列音乐会以及“体验德企文化，弘扬工匠精神”系列活动。

Brief introduction:

The German Cultural Exchange Centre (GCC) is located at building 201-202 of the Hujiang International Culture Park, and located at the USST campus, 516 Jungong Road, Yangpu District, Shanghai. It was unveiled in December 2009, and started operating in October 2011.  

Thanks to a series of successful events, organized since the spring of 2012, the GCC has received a very positive response from Shanghai citizens, and those interested in German culture.

German cultural and historical characteristics are incorporated into the overall design of the center, featuring a harmonious combination of refinement in architectural characteristics with practical usage. 

The GCC has its reception and information centre on the first floor; an auditorium, multi-function meeting room and display room on the second floor; and administrative areas on the third floor, alongside the GCC’s handicrafts centre.

Activities:

Since the official opening in February 2012, the GCC has successfully hosted various cross-cultural activities.

Apart from offering German culture-focused elective courses, painting and photographic exhibitions, the centre has held numerous lectures, reports, symposiums, and reading sessions, inviting famous scholars, experts and authors to give thematic lectures that facilitate exchange and communication.

Each activity features Chinese-German communication and dialogue at a sophisticated level. The activities focus on not only promoting German culture to our USST campus, but also introducing Chinese culture to Germany, and other students from overseas.

Furthermore, the GCC, on the strength of its consulting committee, has been pursuing closer cooperation with various organizations, and initiated a series of events focused around the ‘Hujiang Diplomats Forum’.

Other important activities of the German Culture Centre are the “German–Austrian concert series” and visitations to German companies that take place every semester, categorized as “Ways to enhance and promote successful corporate culture in German enterprises”.
