On Sep 11th, the latest Essential Science Indicators (ESI) shows that for the first time chemical science enters among top 1% in ESI, becoming the third discipline after engineering science, and materials science to do so from USST.
In this issue, 103 highly cited papers are selected in ESI, among which 33 are in the engineering field. Engineering science of USST ranks 585th out of 1468 research institutes whose engineering science cited papers enters among top 1%; 16 are in materials science aspects. Materials science of USST ranks 690th out of 882 research institutes whose materials science cited papers enters among top 1%. 16 are in the chemistry field. Chemical science of USST ranks 690th out of 1252 research institutes whose chemical science also enters among top 1%.
In recent years, our school seizes the opportunity of high-level school construction, keeps upgrading disciplinary layout, highlights disciplinary features and advantages, and improves overall conditions of disciplines. Engineering science, materials science and chemical science of our school enters among top 1% in ESI, showing that three disciplines win first place in the rank of international high-level disciplines. At the same time, the international academic influence of our school also keeps climbing.
ESI is an econometric analysis database based on the ISI citation index database SCI and SSCI. ESI is an authoritative retrieval tool for collecting and reflecting citations of papers in major disciplines in the world. ESI has become an important tool for evaluating the international academic level and influence of universities, academic institutions, and even countries and regions. Entering among top 1% in ESI reflects the paper quality and academic competitiveness of scientific research institutions of universities.
