On Sep 21st, the first forum on the medicine-engineering interdisciplinary platform was held at USST.
At the forum, Wu Jianyong, Secretary of Party Committee of USST gave sincere thanks to all guests present and introduced the background and significance of the establishment of the forum. He pointed that the research relying on the medicine-engineering interdisciplinary platform is of great significance in meeting demands of practical needs of clinical medicine and pushing ahead the rapid development of advantageous and characteristic discipline and cultivation of compound and innovation-driven talents in the medicine-engineering interdisciplinary platform. USST paid great attention to medicine-engineering interdisciplinary work and strengthened the collaboration with sister universities and hospitals, and kept deepening medicine-engineering interdisciplinary construction. Cao Hongming, Director of Science and Technology Department of Shanghai Education Commission, Xu Kaiyu, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine both addressed the speeches for the forum. They encouraged our school to make full use of 25 sections of scientific reforms and some policy bonuses to actively explore a new innovative pattern of the medicine-engineering platform and effectively sustain the high-level university construction.

Zhuang Songlin, Academician of OECE (School of Optical-Electrical and Computer Engineering), Prof. Liu Tielong, Dean Assistant of Orthopedic Department of Shanghai Changzheng Hospital, Fu Daxu, Director of Shanghai Biomedical Science and Technology Industry Promotion Center, Prof. Wu Tao, Deputy Secretary of Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, delivered speeches about optical technology in medicine, innovative transformation of combination of orthopedic clinical and engineering platform, innovation of medical instrument and industry-university-research-medicine collaboration, and application and exploration of smart long-distance medical robots. Participants made deep exchanges and discussion about heated problems related to the medicine-engineering interdisciplinary platform in the keynote reports.
This forum is the first activity during these series of medicine-engineering interdisciplinary forums in which teachers and students from USST widely communicated with hospitals and industries, and found important platforms for innovation and collaboration. USST would continue to explore and construct a more comprehensive medicine-engineering interdisciplinary collaborative pattern, reaching the information interchange, complementary advantages, resources sharing, and profound collaboration between departments and schools.
