On October 21, major general Fang Guoen, chairman of CARM (Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine), major general Niu Enxi, general secretary of Party Committee and senior vice chairman of CARM and Li Jian, director of Public Relations Department, visited our school. President of USST Ding Xiaodong, vice president of USST Liu Ping met the guests, along with Liu Baolin, dean of School of Medical Instrument and Food Engineering, Yu Hongliu, director of Shanghai Engineering Center of Rehabilitation Instrument. Liu Ping briefed chairman Fang Guoen on the history of USST and then both sides organize a talk.
Fang Guoen noted that the innovative team of rehabilitation engineering, School of Medical Instrument and Food Engineering of USST is large in size, rich in talents resources, ample in innovative points, abundant in achievement transformation and meet the clinical demands of rehabilitation medicine. This visit is expected to further deepen the collaboration in the industry-university-research of rehabilitation engineering. On behalf of CARM, he also expressed that the association will continue to support the professional development of rehabilitation engineering of USST.
Ding Xiaodong gave sincere thanks to the support of CARM. He pointed out that biomedical engineering and rehabilitation engineering represent two feature subjects of USST. USST was intended to build the internationally top laboratory of medical instrument and rehabilitation engineering, targeted at promoting the development of biomedical engineering, advancing the integration and convergence of science and engineering and rehabilitation medicine, in hopes of further deepening school-enterprise collaboration with the help of CARM. He pointed out that our school will continue to support the development of some subjects related to rehabilitation engineering, define the feature research direction. At the talks, both sides reach an original strategic collaboration.
Afterwards, Prof. Yu Hongliu accompanied Fang Guoen to visit orthosis and artificial limb training centre and Shanghai Research Institute of Rehabilitation Engineering. They carried out talks about system construction.
Through this profound talk, our school reaches a compromise with CARM. Both sides hope to work together to move forward the development of rehabilitation aids instruments faster and better.
