From December 7th to 8th, the 3rd Conference of “Belt and Road” Medical Device Innovation and Application and the Conference of International (Shanghai) High-end Medical Equipment Innovation were held at USST. With the theme of “Make Concerted Innovative Efforts, Jointly Safeguard the Health of Mankind, and Co-build the Shared Community for Medical Devices”, the conference focuses on such key directions as cutting-edge technology for medical devices, regulatory science, and international cooperation.
Experts and scholars in the medical device industry home and abroad were invited to take part in the conference. Representatives of government management departments, evaluation agencies, clinical medical organizations, and manufacturers also attended the conference, exchanged and discussed their ideas on the innovation and development of high-end medical equipment.
“Shanghai High-end Medical Equipment Innovation Center provides a high-quality platform and rich resources for the development of enterprises. The global interventional medical device CMDO project we have created under the in-depth cooperation with USST has now become one of the first three domestic CDMO platforms for interventional medical devices, realized the localization of all production lines and testing equipment of interventional medical devices, and fundamentally settled the constraints on the production of mother machines, and winning wide recognition at the international market. Now, our products have been successfully sold back to the United States, Europe and the Middle East,” said Liu Chunjie, director of Shanghai Haofeng Medical Technology Co., Ltd. Under the impetus of both sides, micro-guide-wire products with a minimum diameter of 0.010 inches have been launched lately, and the whole production line equipment has independent intellectual property rights, reversing the situation that the access device sector in the field of neuro-interventional has long been controlled by overseas enterprises for many years, and perfectly integrating platform innovation, technology innovation and product innovation.
Wu Jianyong, Secretary of the Party Committee of USST, said in his speech that USST will continue to increase its investment and support for Shanghai High-end Medical Equipment Innovation Center, strengthen cooperation with every member of the “Belt and Road” Medical Device Innovation and Application Alliance, enhance international exchanges and integration, jointly explore technology innovation, product innovation, platform innovation, and promote the cross-industry development.

At the conference, the USST Institute for the “Belt and Road” Regulatory Science for Medical Devices and the Shanghai Center for Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring of Drugs and Medical Devices signed a memorandum of cooperation, the China-Pakistan Medical Association and the Shanghai High-end Medical Equipment Innovation Center signed the China-Pakistan Health Corridor Agreement, while the Shanghai Junchonggu Science and Technology Innovation Park and Yaohua Medical Instrument Co., Ltd., Shanghai Unicom and Minimally Invasive Medical Therapy and Digital Transformation Strategy also held a cooperation signing ceremony respectively.

At this conference, MDinno Shanghai (International) High-end Medical Device Innovation Competition held its award-presenting ceremony. Different from other competitions of the same nature, this competition regarded the cooperation results achieved as its evaluation standard, collected nearly 200 projects and needs from 20 countries and regions, and provided offline or online cooperation docking services for more than 80 projects and needs, of which more than 10 projects are still in continuous docking, and 8 projects have got their cooperation signed or reached an intention of cooperation. At the conference, the most valued investment award, the medical and engineering inter-disciplinary creativity award, the outstanding achievement cooperation award and the best partner award were announced.
During the announcement of medical device innovation projects, the project of “AR visual multi-functional surgical navigation system” attracted the attention of the participants intensely. As one of the achievements of the fourth group of medical-engineering interdisciplinary projects of USST, this project, under the joint research and development of the team of Associate Professor Zhang Peiming of the Health Institution, Changzheng Hospital’s Director Liu Tielong’s team and the team of the spatial perception and interaction solution of Xvisio Technology, have realized the first integration of sub-millimeter visible light accurate positioning and AR technology at home, providing AR modular solutions for the field of medical surgical navigation, which will greatly improve the reliability and success rate of surgeries.
