“In recent four years, supported by the medical-engineering interdisciplinary graduate school, USST has cultivated 1089 graduates, filling demand vacancy of 65% high-level medical-engineering compound talents in medical industry. Over the past five years, 80% of postgraduates have been employed in medical-related business. The input of medical-engineering compound talents cut down 45% of industry’s training costs”. On December 16th, at the founding ceremony of Oriental Panvascular Instrument Innovation School of USST, USST President Ding Xiaodong recalled the phased results of medical-engineering interdisciplinary innovation system constructed by USST.
Over the past years, USST has vigorously integrated resource advantages of such innovation subjects as universities, research institutes, hospitals, enterprises and industries, and financial organs, led the construction of important platforms such as medical-engineering interdisciplinary innovation research institute, medical-engineering interdisciplinary graduate school, and Shanghai high-end medical equipment innovation center, greatly promoting self-innovation and talents cultivation of high-end medical equipment, launching the automatic testing system of covid-19 and virulent pathogenic virus, naked-eye 3D display system, compact technology and equipment for rapid disinfection and sterilization of infectious medical waste, world’s first disposable flexible cryoablation needle. Nearly 300 medical-engineering interdisciplinary projects have been approved, and 10 of them enjoys industrialization value after expert’s argumentation.
On this basis, USST worked together with CCI (Center for Cardiovascular Innovations), OCIN Club for Cardiovascular Innovations to establish the USST Oriental Panvascular Instrument Innovation School, which focuses on meeting demands, solving problems and inducing effects, aiming to foster high-quality medical-engineering projects in the panvascular field , constructing graduate education revolutional “special zone”, and building new medical pattern of medical-engineering interdisciplinary innovation that benefits people’s health and lives.
At the founding ceremony of Oriental Panvascular Instrument Innovation School of USST, Liu Jianmin, Director of CVD (cerebrovascular disease) Center, First Affiliated Hospital of Naval Medical University, was appointed as honorary dean of the school. Ge Junbo, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Head of Cardiology Department of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University, was appointed as president of school’s affairs committee.
